What I do
I treat oil and acrylic easel paintings on various types of support and also repair and restore frames. My aim is to provide sensitive conservation and restoration appropriate to each individual painting or frame and its environment. Most work is carried out in my studio in Hampshire although work on site can be arranged where necessary. Each case begins with analysis of the work, discussion with the client about potential treatments, possible outcomes and costs and concludes with a detailed written and photographic report.
About me
I trained in the conservation and restoration of oil and acrylic paintings and frames at the London School of Painting and Frame Restoration over 5 years. I am a graduate of Oxford University and the Courtauld Institute of Art where I specialised in early Italian Painting. Before training in conservation I worked for a number of years in exhibitions and education within museums and galleries in London and Venice. I was also a coordinator for the National Inventory of Oil Paintings in Public Ownership. I now carry out conservation work for private and institutional clients, based in my Hampshire studio. I have worked on paintings dating from the fourteenth to the twentieth centuries on a variety of supports. I am a member of ICON, the BAPCR and the IIC.
